Back to juicing

My boyfriend and I attempted juicing a couple months ago but we had to return the juicer we were using back to my roommate.  My roommate was nice enough to let us use it when we were experimenting with juicing, but it wasn't very long before she wanted to get back into it and we had to return it back to her.  We had a great experience juicing..no more stomach issues, regular (um...bathroom visits), more energy, slept great, my skin glowed, and it was cheaper then fast food...

So....last night after dinner, my boyfriend and I went to Smith's food and purchased their Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor (WHICH WAS ON SALE- YAY).  The Hamilton Beach Juicer received great reviews for being a powerful inexpensive juicer so I was all for purchasing it to see how it compared to my roommates juicer (which was the Breville Compact Juice Fountain).  Her juicer was super powerful, but was a pain to remove the pulp in between juicing.

Today at work we are having an Italian potluck, so needless to say, we won't be juicing today...but our plan is to start back up first thing Monday morning.  A great website for juicing recipes that I have found is http://www.squidoo.com/basics-of-juicing .  I liked this website because it gave different recipes for different expectations.

SO.....I'm hoping to do more blog posting about my juicing experience and see where it goes....
Stay tuned :)

BTW - Watch the documentary Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead....it's an amazing film about the juicing process.  It is on NETFLIX FYI.
"100 pounds overweight, loaded up on steroids and suffering from a debilitating autoimmune disease, Joe Cross is at the end of his rope and the end of his hope. In the mirror he saw a 310lb man whose gut was bigger than a beach ball and a path laid out before him that wouldn't end well- with one foot already in the grave, the other wasn't far behind. FAT, SICK & NEARLY DEAD is an inspiring film that chronicles Joe's personal mission to regain his health. With doctors and conventional medicines unable to help long-term, Joe turns to the only option left, the body's ability to heal itself. He trades in the junk food and hits the road with juicer and generator in tow, vowing only to drink fresh fruit and vegetable juice for the next 60 days. Across 3,000 miles Joe has one goal in mind: To get off his pills and achieve a balanced lifestyle. While talking to more than 500 Americans about food, health and longevity, it's at a truck stop in Arizona where Joe meets a truck driver who suffers from the same rare condition. Phil Staples is morbidly obese weighing in at 429 lbs; a cheeseburger away from a heart-attack. As Joe is recovering his health, Phil begins his own epic journey to get well. What emerges is nothing short of amazing - an inspiring tale of healing and human connection. Part road trip, part self-help manifesto, FAT, SICK & NEARLY DEAD defies the traditional documentary format to present an unconventional and uplifting story of two men from different worlds who each realize that the only person who can save them is themselves." My new addiction

Hershey's did a great job with their new product, Hershey's Air Delight.  In all honesty, you are actually getting less product for the same price because most of the product is air.  However, I LOVE THE TASTE!!!  When you bite into it, it's almost a creamy fudge feel in your mouth.  All in all, I will be taking my recent coupon of $1.00 off of two bags of kisses and I will be purchasing more of this product.  It is super yummy and will help with my sweet tooth cravings without all the calories.

I'm obsessed!

I have become obsessed with YouTube review videos about makeup and beauty.  Right now my favorite is Beauty Broadcast with EmilyNoel 83
She is a news anchor and has tons and tons and tons of great makeup videos.  She does a lot of "drugstore makeup" reviews, which is great for me because she provides information on the less expensive alternatives to looking good.

Well, I'm approaching my 14,000th viewer to my blog and to celebrate, I am giving away one of my handmade notebooks to the person that actually comments on this post (my mother doesn't count).

I post so many things on my blog and no one ever comments on the things I post. So, this is your chance. :)

Vicks Shower Disks

I don't know about you guys, but when I'm not feeling well, I always enjoyed the Vicks disks that you would stick in the shower and it would release vapors and open up your sinuses. Well, I haven't seen them in the store for a long time and today I was pleasantly surprised when I came across a make your own recipe on pinterest.com.
Here is the link to the actual page where this came from
http://beingfrugalbychoice.blogspot.ca/2012/03/homemade-vicks-vapor-shower-disks.html
Sarah's Homemade Vicks Shower Disk Thingies
-Baking soda
-Water
-Essential oils: eucalyptus, rosemary, and lavender.
-Muffin tin
-Muffin liners
1) Add baking soda to a mixing bowl. Updated to add - I don't really measure. Maybe 2-3 cups?

2) Slowly add water until you've made a thick paste. Updated to add: add just a little water a time. You'll want the mix to feel like putty.

3) Add 15 drops of each essential oil.

4) Spoon in to a muffin tin, and let sit out for 12-18 hours. You can also bake these, but I just left them out overnight.

5) Pop these suckers out of the paper liner, plop it in your shower, and let the essential oils steam away your stuffy nose. Edited to add: put them anywhere on the floor of the shower; it doesn't matter where!
I can't wait to try these on my own.

SIGMA BRUSHES

As you can tell, I have become a fan of MAKEUPBYTIFFANYD's video blogs that she does on her blog, YOUTUBE and facebook. She is always raving about Sigma brushes, and a couple of pay days ago, I broke down and got my very own set. Sure, it may be a little pricey to get professional makeup brushes, but if you use the monthly discount code (see below), get the brushes in the kits, and take care of them - they will last forever!
One, I can't believe I have gone this long without a professional set of makeup brushes. Two, I never would have guessed that the brushes you use made a difference in your makeup application, BUT THEY DO!
THIS IS WHAT I GOT:
DRY'N SHAPE: The Dry'n Shape was designed to completely dry and shape your most dense brushes within 4 to 6 hours, guaranteed $29.00

THE ESSENTIAL KIT: The Sigma Beauty Essential Kit contains twelve professional quality brushes for the face and eyes. This kit features all of the brushes needed to create a complete look at any level of artistry. $89.00

SYNTHETIC SIGMAX DUO: **THIS WAS ON SALE & IS MY FAVORITE BRUSHES** The Synthetic Sigmax Duo contains two of our best-selling brushes (F82, F84) with classic black matte handles. The brushes in this collection feature our exclusive Sigmax filament, which allows flawless makeup application without absorption into the fibers. $24.00

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my brushes and TOTALLY recommend SIGMA BRUSHES to anyone who loves makeup!!

ALSO - If you sign up for their newsletters, they offer a free gift with a minimum purchase. My free gift was a mini eyeshadow brush, perfect for traveling.

Ponds Facial Wipes

Last week I was clipping coupons and came across a coupon for Ponds' facial wipes. I have been using Olay's and thought it may be worth it to try Ponds, they were cheaper and voted Best of Beauty by Allure in 2010.

My routine:

I use the Morning Refresh in the morning (duh) when I get out of the shower. The little bumps on the cloth gently exfoliates my skin and there is so much product in the wipe that it cleans my face thoroughly and then I rinse with cold water.

At night, when I get ready for bed I use the Evening Soothe wipes. The smell of chamomile and white tea calms me as I get ready for bed and the wipe gets rid of all the makeup on my face.

I love these wipes and the fact that they are cheaper then other facial wipes is a plus. Look for coupons in your weekly paper and try them out. I'm sure you will love them too.

All About Brows

My favorite video-blogger Makeup By Tiffany D posted a new video about brows, so I thought I would put my two cents in too.

I have tried many different brow pencils and am thinking I might have to try the one Tiffany mentions in this video and see how it goes. THE REVLON BROW FANTASY

Two days ago when I went to Walmart I picked up the new Maybelline's Brow pencil. I liked it a lot, but after 2 uses, I used up all of the product. WHAT A RIP OFF!!! For $6.00 + dollars all I got was around 2 uses. Needless to say, I WILL NEVER USE THAT PRODUCT AGAIN AND WILL TELL EVERYONE TO NOT WASTE THEIR MONEY!!!

One of the things I have always received compliments on is my brows. I am very religious about my brows and I hope this post has been helpful. I have been using the AVON Glimmersticks Taupe brow pencil for a long time and have found that it has given me the best results.

**UPDATE: I tried the Revlon Brow Fantasy and thought it was a "good" product. I still like the natural effect I get with Avon's brow pencil, but I do like the gel you get with Revlon's.

GoGo Squeez Apple Sauce

Tonight my aunt gave me some of this applesauce to take back to work. I had seen it in the grocery store, but it looked so different, I hesitate to get some. Well, I am now addicted. This stuff is so good and talk about convenience. How awesome would this be on a camping trip or a field trip with the kids.

I am for sure going to the store and picking up a big box of this.
