Marshmallow Barnyard Centerpiece

I was looking at Country Living's website today and came across the cutest centerpiece idea, a marshmallow barnyard centerpiece.

How cute is this?!? Wouldn't this make a cute centerpiece for a young child's party incorporating a farm theme?

Here are instructions on how to make this yummy centerpiece:

Use large marshmallows for bodies. Slice a thin piece for the lamb's head, and a trimmed half for the chick's. For pig snout, use a half a mini marshmallow. For ears, snip a mini diagonally.

Set up a different bowl for each desired color. Dilute each drop of food coloring with 1 tablespoon of water for pastels. Add a drop at a time to the bowl to control the shade of your mix.

Apply a thin layer of marshmallow spread to body parts and roll in your candy coating. Attach heads, ears, and snouts with a dab of spread. Let sit for half an hour before handling.

Cut jelly beans in half to use as feet, noses and arms. Attach with a dab of marshmallow spread. Use decorating icing for facial details. Store in an airtight container for up to two days.

Use chopped sweetened coconut flakes, sprinkles, or colored sugar to coat marshmallow bodies. For barnyard grass, toss coconut with green coloring. Spread on a baking pan to dry.

    Sizzix Website

I was looking through Sizzix's website and came upon their new releases. Check out some of these cute new dies they recently came out with. Aren't they adorable?

Every Tuesday, Sizzix puts a bunch of their dies on sale. Make sure you check out their website every Tuesday to see the new dies they have on sale. Plus, check their clearance section, they have tons of dies there as well.

Here are a couple of the new dies they have that I won't be able to live without and some that I have on my shopping list...

My New Passion - Cupcake Cakes

I am in love with cupcake cakes. I was searching online for some ideas for a work treat and came across a cake pan for a giant cupcake. What a great idea! I was so compelled, I put together this little slide show to show you all how cute you can turn an ordinary cake into something extraordinary.

Dove Energy Glow Beauty Body Lotion

I have to be one of the whitest people I know. Strawberry blond hair and blue eyes never equalled a great tan. As a child, I was never able to tan very well. Whenever I went somewhere and was exposed to the sun, I ended up burnt all over with blisters. It just wasn't fair.

As a teenager, I experimented with tons of tinted lotions, and none provided a natural color. They all were too dark or turned me orange. There wasn't anything for those with porcelain complexion. When the spray tanning booth, Mystic Tan came out, I bought a membership to a local tanning salon. This was the first time I actually had a semi-natural looking tan. However, there were some negative aspects 1 - it was expensive and 2 - you had to get sprayed regularly to maintain the color, if not, you soon turn orange and the color becomes splotchy.

Well, with all the wonderful things that are out today, promising to lift your butt, make your boobs bigger, take away wrinkles, make you lose 100 lbs in a week, turn you into a super hero, and make the man of your dreams fall in love, I thought I would try one of the many tinted lotions.

My pick - Dove Energy Glow Beauty Body Lotion for fair skin tones. I have finally gotten this process down to a science. I only apply the lotion at night, when I know I will take a shower in the morning. I strip down, lather the lotion all over, stand around for a couple minutes until the lotion is dry and then get dressed in dark pj's that cover my legs and arms. In the morning, I hop in the shower and scrub off the excess with my favorite soap, Dove Energize Beauty Bar (which has little beads that gently exfoliate). When I step out, I have a darker complexion, without looking to fake.

Like I said before, consistency is key. I performed this application process a couple nights ago and I was able to maintain the color for a couple days. Today, the color is starting to fade bake and I will need to apply another coat tonight if I want to stay tanned.
I'm sure there are tons of tinted lotions that work just as good as the product I use, but for a product I can get just about anywhere for a good price, I am one very satisfied customer.

Another note, it may be a coincidence, but I have noticed that my hair on my legs hasn't grown as fast since I applied the lotion. Just thought I would throw that in....that alone is worth the try.

    Some Bunny Loves You

When my mother and I re-cooperated from the Scrapbook Convention, we headed down to my basement and began to play with all our new toys. I took misc. pieces of paper, my mother's Sizzix Kathy Hello Kitty Bunny die cut (seen on the right) and a particle board plaque and came up with a very cute Easter plaque for my Living Room.

Here is a picture of me making the plaque.

Here is a picture of the finished product.
    Didn't it turn out cute?

    Scrapbook Convention

Ok, so now I have a chance to sit down and finally download all my pictures, here is some pictures from the Scrapbook Convention in Sandy, UT this last weekend. My mother flew out from Las Vegas and we spent the weekend catching up on each other's lives and shopping, shopping, shopping....

We went to the Old Spaghetti Factory twice, went to all the local craft stores, checked out what was new at the Quilted Bear, and on Saturday morning, went to the Scrapbook Convention. There were so many cool things to buy and look at. We had so much fun! I loaded up on paper and stickers and my mother stocked up on die cuts and misc. items. All in all, we both made out like bandits. So, without further or do, enjoy the following pictures of our mother-daughter weekend.

    Body of Lies

When I say that I just saw "Body of Lies", I'm not talking about a "adult" movie. I'm talking about a new release starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe. When I saw the trailer for this movie, I was dreading watching it with some of the gals from work. Well, when they say, "you can't judge a book by it's cover", they mean it. This movie was surprisingly VERY GOOD! We had to watch the movie in two installments, and I tell you, I couldn't stop thinking about how the movie was going to end.

    Here's a summary:
A CIA operative, Roger Ferris, uncovers a lead on a major terrorist leader suspected to be operating out of Jordan. When Ferris devises a plan to infiltrate his network, he must first win the backing of cunning CIA veteran Ed Hoffman and the collegial, but perhaps suspect, head of Jordanian intelligence. Although ostensibly his allies, Ferris questions how far he can really trust these men without putting his entire operation--and his life--on the line

If you have a chance to rent this movie, check it out. It is rated R, so no kids allowed and there is a lot of violence and language, but a very interesting situation, no T & A (which is rare now-a-days) and great acting. I never really got into Russell Crowe's acting, but he does a great job in this role. I actually enjoyed watching his character react to different issues that his counterpart Leo was going through, getting his booty kicked by terrorists on the other line, while coaching at his kid's soccer game and taking his little boy to the bathroom. Even though it was clear he was a very important person, who was dealing with intense situations through Leo, he still contributed to his fatherly duties. Very cute moments. I know, I'm crazy, a rough and tough movie where every other word is a curse word, I find tenderness in the middle of it all. I can't help it, I'm a girl, we love that stuff.

If your in need of a present

I was looking around on (a great place to find handmade items) and came across this vendor called "giftsdefine". Check out their line of adorable Animal Suitcases. They are a little pricey at $58.00, but incredibly cute and I could only imagine how much time goes into each suitcase. Here are some pictures. I'm sure you'll agree, if I were a kid again, I would love to receive one of these as a gift.

    Aeopostale Hoodies

This last Christmas I made the wrong decision to walk into a Aeropostale store. As I walked in, I was greeted by mounds of hoodies. I was in "aw". I quickly looked for my size and grabbed as much as a "sain" person would buy in one sale. They just happened to be having a sale - go figure! Anyways, ever since then, I have been in love with Aeropostale hoodies. I wear them at work, when I go out shopping and don't want to dress up, when I'm lounging around the house, everywhere! Well, I was just on their website and they have a whole bunch of new hoodies for spring. What am I going to do? Check them out, they are very cute and colorful! These are a couple of my favorites:

    ATV Poodle

This is Ozzy, originally my toy poodle, turned brother when I moved to New York. Being an only child, he was lucky enough to have been left behind when I got married, to be cared for and uncontrollably spoiled by mother. Anyways, when my dad purchased an ATV, he soon found out that there was a special little guy (Ozzy) he couldn't leave behind when he would go out riding. Ozzy loves to go 4-wheeling with my parents around Mt. Charleston just outside of Las Vegas, as well as around the Valley of Fire outside of Logandale, NV. Here's an adorable picture my mom emailed me from their recent ride. He even has his own pair of glasses to keep the dirt out of his eyes. Isn't he precious?

    CPK Tricolore Salad Pizza

I'm sitting here at work, stomach growling, thinking, "If I could have anything I wanted to eat right now, what would it be?" Suddenly a picture and a taste run through my brain waves - California Pizza Chicken Tricolore Salad Pizza. Oh how I long for the taste of this out of the world, nothing tastes like it, salad/pizza. Look at this can't tell me that doesn't look yummy (minus the tomatoes). Here it is:

    Tricolore Salad Mix
    1/2 lb. radicchio
    1/2 lb. baby arugula
    1/2 lb. baby red oak

    1. Quarter head of radicchio.
    2. Remove the core from each quarter.
    3. Using the lettuce chopper, cut the radicchio into 1" x 1" pieces and break apart the leaves.
    4. Remove the core from the head of the baby red oak.

    5. Use a knife to cut the baby red oak into 1" x 1" pieces.
    6. Mix the cut radicchio, arugula and baby red oak.

    Tricolore Salad Pizza
8 oz. Neapolitan pizza dough (12")
    1 Tbs. corn syrup mixture
    3 Tbs. Parmesan cheese

    Salad Garnish
6 c. tricolore salad mix (recipe above)
    3/4 c. diced tomatoes
    2 oz. Dijon balsamic vinaigrette
    1 oz. shaved Parmesan cheese

All ingredients should be spread to the edge of the dough

    1. Brush the syrup over the entire surface of a 12" dough.
    2. Sprinkle the Parmesan over the syrup.
    3. Cook pizza, remove from oven and slice. Do not pop bubbles that form! The pizza crust should be bubbly, brown and crispy!
    4. Combine the salad mix, tomatoes and dressing in a container and toss to coat.
    5. Place the salad mixture in the center of the sliced pizza leaving 2" of dough exposed on the outer edge.
    6. Sprinkle the shaved Parmesan over the salad.

    Rate My Space

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Rate My Space on!! I go on this website all the time looking for inspiration on decorating and landscaping. I can't tell you how many pictures I have saved on my computer, keeping them on hand for later reference.

The best thing, is most of the pictures look like they came from "real homes", not any fancy-smancy mansion homes you see in magazines. I have just barely set up a profile for myself, so all of you can see pictures of my new home as well as comment and give tips on what I should change.

P.S. For you crafty type people out there, there are even ideas on how to set up your craft room.

    The best part about March

Not being of Irish decent, I don't really get into St. Patrick's day too much. However, there is one reason to celebrate the month of March that always brings a smile to my face. See's St. Patrick's Day Potato. These little guys may resemble an ordinary potato but they are so much better. I don't know what See's uses in their ingredients, but you won't be able to have just one.

My mother every year orders tons of these treats and hands them out to all the wonderful ladies my dad works with. This year she made a cute card to go with them, as seen below.

St. Patrick's Day Potatoes are only available once a year, so you might want to stock up on as much as you can....while you still can.

    New Comforter

Ok, so those who I have talked to recently, know that I have been having a hard time finding a comforter to match my very colorful master bedroom. When we moved into our house, the master bedroom was already painted a light brown and rust color, on different walls. We haven't had the time to repaint, so we decided to stick with what we have until we get more time and money to do a complete remodel.

So, after going through 3 different comforters, hours online looking at bedding and multiple trips into Salt Lake, I found one that will work...for now....

This is what I ended up getting. I purchased it from Macy's on closeout for $120.00 for a King bedding set. It's by Martha Stewart and it's called Blossom and Vines. I was thinking about doing a whole "California Tropical Retreat" look with the rest of the room to tie in the pattern and the colors.

To be continued on pictures of the finished product, since I have yet to find curtains to match that I never ends!!!

    Covergirl Simply Ageless

I have been passing by this foundation so many times, wondering if it's as good as they say. Being 27, I haven't had a problem with too many wrinkles, but I do have a hard time with my foundation 1) watching my skin tone without giving me a orange chin line and 2) withstanding 12+ hours of wear and still look like it was just applied. Too many times I think I have found a great foundation...this is until I get an up close look in the mirror or catch myself in the mirror in natural light. So, being the curious person I am when it comes to new cosmetics, I bought it. A lot of users have a hard time trying to figure out how to open the package. Come on people!!!! I'm blond and I figured it out right away (no offence to blonds). You open the latch to get to the sponge and you twist the package to get to the foundation. As I stared down into this jar of foundation, I thought to myself "foundation mixed with a white substance isn't going to look good". I took the included sponge and lightly swirled it into the foundation. I then proceeded to apply.....I was surprised how light it was (in color). I think the cream mixed with the foundation dilutes the color somehow, which for some might not be a good thing, but for us FAIR gals, was just fine. I applied the foundation all over my face, making sure to get in each crack and cranny and then reached for my powder. Too many times, my powder makes my face look orange, when applied on top of my foundation. But this time, the whiteness of the foundation balanced perfectly with the powder. I actually looked natural, not made up. I haven't been using this foundation for very long but I can tell you, the color isn't orang'ey like most foundations and after wearing for a long period of time, I looked more dewy than splotchy. Try it out, it's a little pricey, but I think it's worth it.

    Best Mascara Ever

So, a while ago I was walking through the cosmetic section of Walmart and came upon an
"end cap" of this weeks new item. "Maybeline Lash Stiletto" I said to myself, "another crappy mascara that never works". As I read the package and what it was supposed to do, I thought I would give it a try.

That night, I got home, went up to my master bathroom and tore open the package. I had already applied mascara that morning so I wasn't expecting a big difference. I twisted the cap off and started to apply.....

Wow!!! My lashes did appear longer, as if I were wearing false eyelashes!!

I continued to wear the product here and there and noticed I received more and more compliments about my lashes. My mother even stopped me in mid sentence and asked if I were wearing false lashes. Nope, just an awesome mascara! Try it, it is well worth it. Plus, it's a lot cheaper then those designer mascaras you see in department stores that promise one thing and don't measure up.
